In Which I Try to Figure This Out

I have no idea how this works. At all. Erm. So if someone could explain how everything here works, I'd be forever in your debt. And there's an increasing number at the top of my page next to a white/gray envelope that is frightening me. I haven't don't anything yet -flails-. Anyway. So do I post my fan fiction here too or?
